The Last Piece of Leaf

As long as we have faith in our heart, any miracle could happen. Even though the hope is slim, it exists always in the human world.

US writer O. Henry narrated a story in his novel "The Last Piece of Leaf."

In the hospital ward, a dying patient saw a tree from the window in her room, and the leaves fell from the tree, piece by piec, in the autumn wind. Watching the tree almost stripped of the leaves, and her own physical condition becoming more and more serious by the day, she said, "When all the leaves have fallen off the tree, that will be the time i die." Learning of this incident, an old painter drew a green leaf with his crayon, and hangs it on the tree.

The final piece of leaf never fell onto the ground. And merely because of this piece of green leaf, the patient miraculously survived.

A gentle hint: We can be deprived of many things in life, but we cannot live without a hope. Hope is the greatest value in our human living. And where there is hope, there is undying life!
