Day by Day Journal - Day 1

Came back from Hong Kong few days ago, but i have not done my writing cum posting yet. Could i just post pictures? We went to quite a lot of places and i wish i could share all them to you, slowly but surely, please bear with me. I'll try to briefly go through them one by one. :)

Our flight took off on friday morning. We flew KUL-HKG on CX. I am happy to report that CX had terrific service. Food was nicely served. In 3 hours and a half we arrived to Hong Kong International Airport at noon. The airport is incredible, i have not seen anything like that, very efficient, clean, good signs, trains, very futuristic looking.

We met up with our tour guide and we were ready to depart. I happened to be the tour leader of the trip. My colleague has assigned an important task to me for taking care of the rest in the group.

Soon we were riding on the way to New Territories (新界). We passed the Tsing Ma Bridge (青马大桥) forms part of the link between the Hong Kong International Airport and the downtown areas.

We were booked in Tsuen Wan at L'hotel near Nina Tower. Very good comfortable deluxe hotel, and i was totally in love with this place. We got into hotel in the afternoon, refreshed and went to explore the city. The guide (Joanne) on the bus was very informative and told us a lot about history of HK and its people and culture.

Took a ride across Victoria Harbour to the Hong Kong Island. We popped by the Golden Bauhinia Square (金紫荆广场) in Wan Chai and took some photos of the famous Golden Bauhinia Statue which was a gift from the Chinese government to HK and a symbol of HK's handover to China. Worth a visit.

Later, we visited to Aberdeen (香港仔鱼村), the essence of Hong Kong where fishermen and their families live. Nothing much special. You can have a boat ride by own expenses. It's HK$50/head if i am not mistaken. We spent about half an hour over here then we left for the next destination.

The next.. Repulse Bay (浅水湾), the most spectacular bay in southern Hong Kong. It's a luxurious residential where you can see all the rich men's houses along the way.

At one end of the beach is the colourful Kuan Yin temple and statues protecting Hong Kong's water. So here is the place we visited.

The day turned dark after 6pm. Therefore we headed to the Victoria Peak (太平山) right after the Repulse Bay. Victoria Peak is said to be the best place to enjoy the multi-colourful night scene encompassing Hong Kong and Victoria Harbour.

On the Peak, i met Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie!

And also Bae Yong Jun...

Stopped Leon Lai on his bicycle!

All in Madame Tussauds wax museum on Victoria Peak. Madame Tussauds (杜莎夫人蜡像馆) is well worth a visit, if you like the original waxworks idea. The price for adults is HK$140

We had our dinner down to the town. Speaking of dinner, that night, we had seafood at Lei Yue Mun, a rather famous place for seafood in HK. I had already been looking forward to visiting, even before we started the trip, as my colleague told me that it's the most expensive meal for the entire trip. We had lobster, abalone, crab, mantis prawn, fish, cuttlefish, scallop, prawn and many more. Even more than 10 dishes, what a filling dinner. Too bad i didn't manage to snap picture.

Back at hotel. It was only 9pm, we walked over to the Citywalk which is only one road across, and we shopped for awhile.

I got myself 2 pairs of Nike pants, and BQ bought a tank top too. Guess how much are they? The pants is only HK$139/pcs, and tank top costs HK$125, very affordable right?

We were already aching from the continuous walk since afternoon. We decided to find a place to rest. A place where we could order drinks and sit comfortably. We ended up at Honeymoon Dessert (满记甜品) located at ground floor. No way you can leave HK without trying their desserts.

We were not hungry nor thirsty as we just needed a place to rest our feet. So i shared a bowl of mango with sago and pomelo dessert (杨枝甘露). It was really good once i put into my mouth. Cool and refreshing. A MUST ORDER...

Honeymoon Dessert have dozens of branches all over HK and yes, they are as popular as Hui Lau San. I'm not sure the location of all the outlets but if you happened to be around Tsuen Wan looking for dessert and most importantly, a place to rest, then this is the place to be.
