At first, i thought of trying fruit agar-agar. However, i got the request from a friend asking for milo agar-agar. When she first asked me to make this, i have to admit that i was a little intimidated. Well, it actually got me fumbling a bit though. Firstly, i have not seen milo agar-agar in my life. Secondly, i don't do well with asian desserts, be it making or eating.
But since the request came in, i thought i would give it a shot by attempting milo agar-agar. I've actually never come across milo agar-agar till i read a recipe featured in the website. But still, i thought it was rather odd.
In terms of dissolving the agar-agar in boiling water, i did what i thought was best. Everything looked the way it was supposed to, which was a good sign. So i crossed my fingers and chilled the agar-agar in the fridge.
I had totally no idea how much sugar do i have to add for that amount of liquid. To be perfectly honest, the agar-agar turned out a lot better than i expected, as i had expected it would be tasteless. In any case, i’m glad that i did give it my best shot.
Sadly though, it had a bit of a harder texture (psst: i was told by my trusty tasters :D) that i wasn’t too fond of. I know that it had nothing to do with the original recipe. It was the fault of the agar strands, or more likely, the fault of the person using the agar strands.
Next, i attempted the lychee agar-agar on the next day and i conveniently forgot that 2 packets of agar strands would yield a harder texture, should have reduce the amount of it.
Let's see, my package of agar strands is 20g and i used 2 packets for each attempt. But i was told, the agar powder called Swallow Globe gives better texture. Perhaps i should try using this for my next attempt.
I’m eager to experiment making agar-agar with other flavours again anytime soon, and i have already bought 2 packets of Swallow Globe in my pantry to meet the urge. :P

Hmmmm Yeah even though I've heard of milo agar agar before, but it did seem alien to me...lolx

All looks really good in the picture... :) I think I might have made agar-agar for less than 10 times in my life haha... maybe because it's not "baking" stuff.
